Just remember, don’t pick a dress with a side slit that reaches your waist because your vajazzeling isn’t part of your public show and tell accessory.</p> <p>To make the look conservative, pair a middle-slit long skirt with a form-fitting top (think fitted t-shirt or button-down blouse).</p>http://healthandstyle.tumblr.com/post/16570093109http://healthandstyle.tumblr.com/post/16570093109Fri, 27 Jan 2012 02:33:52 -0500<p><p class="MsoNormal">As the daughter of an Italian seamstress who had both a passion and an eye for clothing and bringing beautiful designs to life for her customers, I would love to say that I inherited my love for fashion at my mother’s knee.  However, I would just be blatantly lying.</p> <p class="MsoNormal">You see, my young desire to either wear very short skirts and tight tops or the grunge flannel look of the ‘90s did not jive with my mother’s desire to see me fully covered up like a young lady should be.  So at the tender age of 12, my mother and I agreed to stop the bitter fighting over her sewing (shorter, tighter!) and mutually agreed that she would no longer sew any of my designs for me.  Fortunately for me (and her sanity), I eventually grew to stop wanting to dress so trashy and instead have a more classy, rockstar edgy vibe.  I mean, don’t get me wrong, I still wear the occasional Kelly Bundy tight, short dress.  But these days, it’s a classy mini-dress and I always follow the rule, “low top, long on the bottom; short on the bottom, covered up on top.”  See, classy!  Now, my mother and I have begun a very successful collaboration together again and it is amazing to see my designs translated from verbal conversations and pictures to physical clothing that I can wear out.  Thanks Mom!</p> <p class="MsoNormal">I’m an ex-banker, ex-private equity girl that left the world of New York high finance for the world of high-risk start-ups in San Francisco.  What can I say, I have always been and always will be adrenaline-seeking (except when it comes to my 401k portfolio – total risk aversion – c’mon I’m not an idiot, I was in finance after all!)</p> <p class="MsoNormal">So join me in this blog as I explore all topics related to fashion, health, and navigating my 30s.  They say that 30s is the new 20s, but for my liver’s sake, I’m hoping that like my childhood fashion sense, my 30s continues to evolve a la George Clooney, into even greater classiness.</p></p>http://healthandstyle.tumblr.com/post/16396283949http://healthandstyle.tumblr.com/post/16396283949Tue, 24 Jan 2012 00:40:41 -0500
